PATIENT GUIDE
Make Aftercare Part of Your Treatment Decision
Aftercare works best when the responsibilities, records and appointment arrangements are clear before you travel. Use this guide to connect the work in Istanbul with the follow-up you will need after returning home.
01
A named contact
Know where to send a question and who can arrange a clinical review.
02
The right records
Keep the treatment summary and relevant restoration or implant information.
03
Written scope
Understand which services are included and how further treatment would be assessed and priced.
Identify the Right Contact
Ask who coordinates aftercare for your case and which clinician or service should be contacted for different questions. Medico Clinic lists active partners in London and Pennsylvania; confirm whether either location is relevant to your circumstances.
Do not treat a partner address as an automatic appointment or an assurance that every service is available there. Ask about the booking process, the services agreed for you and what requires contact with the Istanbul team.
Know Which Records Will Be Shared
Ask what records you will receive and which records the aftercare partner needs. For an implant plan, questions about the system and restoration details can be part of the handover discussion. The sharing method, consent and responsible recipients must follow the approved records process.
Check Coverage and Costs
Distinguish the planned follow-up from unexpected additional treatment. Ask which appointments, checks or adjustments are included, which may have a fee and what written warranty or commercial terms apply. Do not assume that the general aftercare message creates a specific contractual entitlement.
Get Clear Written Instructions
Before travelling home, ask for the clinician’s instructions, planned follow-up dates and the appropriate route for advice if something concerns you. Keep the information accessible and ask for any unclear wording to be explained.
Plan Follow-Up Around the Work Completed
A follow-up arrangement should identify the treatment and the purpose of the review. Ask whether the planned appointment concerns a check, an adjustment or another stage that has yet to be completed. These distinctions affect the records needed and the person responsible.
If the final plan changes during the Istanbul visit, ask how the aftercare arrangement will be updated. The handover should describe the work that was actually carried out rather than rely on an earlier estimate.
Ask What Happens Outside the Planned Review
A scheduled appointment does not explain the route for every unexpected question. Before departure, request the appropriate contact for a concern, the service hours and the process for obtaining clinical advice. Use the clinician’s approved instructions for your situation.
Clarify any difference between clinical follow-up and a commercial warranty. Written terms should say which services are covered, what exclusions apply and what happens if care is needed elsewhere. Retain a copy that you can refer to without searching through informal messages.
Keep Your Aftercare File Complete
| Record | What to include | When to request it |
|---|---|---|
| Treatment summary | Completed work, dates, treated teeth and any remaining stages. | At the handover before leaving Istanbul. |
| Product information | Implant or restoration details relevant to future care. | When the completed work is documented. |
| Individual instructions | The treating clinician’s care and review guidance. | After the procedure and again at departure if needed. |
| Aftercare arrangement | Receiving practice, booking route, scope and fees. | During planning, with confirmation before the visit. |
How to Arrange a Connected Follow-Up
The handover starts with the work completed in Istanbul. Use these steps to connect the treatment team with the proposed aftercare appointment.
01
Agree the purpose
Tell the Istanbul team whether you are arranging a planned review or asking about a new concern. Clarify which service is being requested and whether it falls within your written aftercare arrangement.
02
Confirm the appointment
Obtain the receiving practice details, appointment time and any fees in writing. Ask whether Medico coordinates the booking or whether you should contact the practice after a referral has been made.
03
Prepare the records
Ask what information the receiving clinician needs and how consent for sharing it is recorded. Keep your own copies of the treatment summary, restoration or implant details and the relevant review plan.
04
Connect the next decision
After the appointment, ask how findings will be communicated to the Istanbul team. If further work is recommended, clarify who will explain the options, confirm the costs and arrange any additional care.
Before Travelling to an Aftercare Appointment
- Confirm the exact practice address, appointment time and the service being booked.
- Bring your treatment summary and the records requested by the receiving clinician.
- Check the agreed fees and whether any additional work would require a separate estimate.
- Know the contact for a change of appointment and the clinician responsible for the next decision.
More Questions, Answered
What if I change my home dentist?
Keep your records available and ask how a new clinician can request additional information from the treating team. Tell Medico if the agreed follow-up arrangements need to change.
How should I describe an unexpected concern?
Give the clinical team a clear account of when it started and what you notice, together with the treatment dates. Use the contact in your handover and follow the advice you receive about the next appropriate step.
